If you are interested in image licensing, academic consultancy services, teaching and map production please get in touch (james(at)spatialanalysis.co.uk). I specialise in data visualisation, geographic information systems and spatial data, R programming and teaching. Some selected projects I’ve been involved in are detailed here.

Mapping Scotland's Population

Oliver O’Brien and I were commissioned by National Records Scotland to map their 2011 Census data (interactive version). Building on the success of this project we were then asked by the Scottish Government to map their Index of Multiple Deprivation (interactive version).

Oliver O’Brien and I were part of a project to produce a “walkable phentermine London Tube map” for Nike to promote their FuelBand personal movement tracker.

FT Weekend Magazine London Crime Map

I was delighted to be asked to be part of the the Financial Times Magazine’s special graphics issue. It is a really great “celebration of visual culture” and includes an interview with Edward Tufte and work from Stamen. The map I produced takes the street-level crime data from the data.police.uk.

Article 25's 10x10 Charity Auction

Oliver O’Brien and I were lucky enough to be asked to submit a number artworks to the 10×10 London Charity Auction.
